EFFECTIVE TEACHING

HOW TO OPEN THE MIND OF STUDENTS SO THAT THEY CAN LEARN

The ability to learn is inherent in all humans, yet studies have shown that many young people fail to develop this ability into a capability.  We would say they are slow learners or have some type of learning deficiency.  The student believes they lack the intelligence of their peers and are therefore condemned to a life of poor grades and disappointments scholastically.

Socrates said, “The true teacher goes to the student, takes them by the hand and leads them into an understanding of the knowledge being taught”.  The ability to teach any student, regardless of a learning problem  is the quality of a true teacher.  “How can you teach someone that cannot learn?  If a student can make it to class, they can learn.  The teacher must go to where that student is in learning, create with that student a relationship of teacher and student, build a belief in the students mind that they can learn and then create an open mind to that which is being taught.

This two day, 12 hour course will give each teacher an understanding of how to relate to the fears of each student, lift them above their fear so that they are willing to apply themselves toward learning.  With this achieved the teacher can lead each student into an understanding of how to use their natural learning ability.  The results is students with a higher desire to learn, a greater dedication to study and a self-esteem that grows to believe they can learn.
